In another example of how Firebaugh-Las Deltas Unified School District continues to increase and improve services for early intervention, our Director of Student Services, Andrea Valadez, has shared an article that highlights the great things that FCOE does to meet student need throughout the county. However, the article also highlights the efforts of our staff to push past challenges in this case for our most vulnerable population; our Special Education (SPED) students. It is important to point out that while this article highlights our Shines
Program and Shines
staff, our entire SPED department and staff district wide are all doing great things each and every day for all of our SPED students.
Beyond what is mentioned in the article, our Shines staff hold "classes" for the parents, including dads as well as moms, of our SHINE's students. Parents learn strategies that they can use at home to improve their interaction and relationships with their children while also learning new ways to play with their children at home.
Our Student Services Director, Andrea Valadez, has led and supported our SPED Department (staff, students and parents) and has helped the rest of our staff see and understand how we can work together to help our SPED students reach for the stars. Our challenge will be to continue to ensure that all of our SPED students continue to reach their maximum potential (increasing and improving services).
