Special Education Records Retention and Destruction Notice

In accordance with the California Code of Regulations (CCR), Firebaugh-Las Deltas Unified School District maintains Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and related special education records for the required retention period. This notice informs parents/guardians and eligible students that these records are retained in compliance with state regulations and may be destroyed after the required retention period has expired. IEPs and related special education records are retained for five (5) years after a student exits special education services, graduates, or leaves the district, as required by law. During this retention period, all records are securely maintained to protect the confidentiality of student information. Parents/guardians and eligible students may request copies of their special education records before they are destroyed by contacting the District's Special Education Office.
